Dark Chocolate Coconut Truffles

There are few things I love as much as I love chocolate. But you already knew that, right? And because I love chocolate–intense, rich, dark chocolate–I love truffles. What could be better than a robust chocolate flavor in a little package?

These fit the bill perfectly: they are intensely dark, with a warm flavor that just kind of coats your mouth with loveliness. The coconut flakes at a touch of texture and a touch of sweetness to the truffles that brings them to the next level of fabulosity.

A word of warning: if you are immune to the thrall of the darkest chocolate you can imagine, wait for another one of my truffle recipes. This is as dark as chocolate gets. And though it’s made with coconut milk, don’t expect much coconut flavor: the only coconut taste comes from the flakes, and they don’t stand up to the stiff flavor of the chocolate. But if you love dark chocolate; if you think there’s little on this earth better than the bitterest of darks; if you believe that a tiny bite of something this rich is better than an entire pallet of milky-sweet chocolate: this is for you.
