Quick and Easy Tomato Basil Sauce
This week, I’ve decided to give y’all a gift: an Italian feast, one post at a time. I figured I’d start with the easiest Italian sauce I know. This is a Tuesday night sauce, so fast to make that you could make it on a weeknight when you’re too busy even to order pizza.
But don’t be fooled: this sauce doesn’t taste easy or quick. The spice of the garlic, the sweet basil and tomato, even the richness of the olive oil…all the flavors work together to create a simple but sophisticated dish.
The other reason I love this sauce? It’s incredibly versatile. It works on pasta, as a base for pizza, even with baked dishes like lasagna or baked ziti. It tastes fresh and sweet, and complements a whole host of other foods. Simple, easy, delicious, and versatile? Couldn’t be more perfect!
